Shah Alam, August 10 - Customers and Smiles Driver Rewards ('Smiles') members will be getting exclusive rewards from Esso Malaysia Berhad (Esso) and ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Mobil) in conjunction with the 50th Merdeka celebrations and the second anniversary of the Smiles loyalty programme.

Customers will get a free Merdeka-themed car decal with a minimum purchase of RM20 of fuel at participating Esso and Mobil stations.

Esso Malaysia Berhad Retail Business Director Faridah Ali said that ExxonMobil is excited to celebrate 50 years of nationhood with the rest of the country.

"As a company with a long history in Malaysia and having grown with the nation for more than a century, ExxonMobil feels very much a part of Malaysia and is pleased to have contributed to its development.  We hope every Malaysian will get into the Merdeka spirit and display their Jalur Gemilang," she said.

At the launching ceremony, Faridah also presented prizes to winners of the Nokia 6110 Navigator contest which began on July 1, 2007.  Worth RM1,779 each, the phone comes with GPS function and maps plus other attractive features.  A total of 70 winners were selected during the first round of the contest. 

Another 190 Nokia 6110 Navigator phones are up for grabs during the second round of the contest which will end on September 15, 2007.  Smiles members can participate by purchasing RM50 worth of fuel to qualify for one entry. 

"We recognise that customers want value and appreciate convenience. At Esso and Mobil, we continue to work hard at delivering better products and services to make our customers happy and to thank them for their valuable support over the years," said Faridah.

In conjunction with Smiles' second anniversary, customers who sign up as new Smiles members between July 1 and August 31 will get a free, exclusive Reggie Lee car sunshade (while stocks last).  And if they accumulate RM300 worth of fuel purchases within 60 days of their membership, they will be further rewarded with 500 Smiles bonus points.

About the Smiles Driver Rewards program
The Smiles card is accepted at about 530 Esso and Mobil service stations nationwide.  Customers collect Smiles Points with fuel and mart purchases. Points accumulated can then be used to ‘pay’ for a wide variety of items directly at the stations just by presenting their Smiles Card, without having to fill up forms or wait for vouchers. Redemption for mart purchases can be made for anything except tobacco and e-pay service.  Customers also have the option of redeeming for other attractive gift items that are available in the catalogue.
