KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 - The ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia today announced that Mr. Hugh W.A. Thompson has been appointed the new Chairman of the ExxonMobil Subsidiaries in Malaysia, replacing Mr. Liam M. Mallon, who has accepted an assignment as the Vice President, Engineering, ExxonMobil Production Company in Houston, Texas, U.S.A.

Mr. Thompson has also been appointed to the Boards of Directors of ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc., Esso Malaysia Berhad, ExxonMobil Borneo Sdn Bhd, ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd. and ExxonMobil Services (Labuan) Limited.

Mr. Thompson, who is a native of Scotland, graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland with a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. He started his career with ExxonMobil in 1988.  Over the past 20 years he has held positions of increasing responsibility in various fields including engineering and operations management, major project management and strategic business planning.  He has spent the majority of his career in the U.K. and North America.
