We support Malaysia’s conservation efforts through funding public awareness and educational campaigns. We’ve sponsored governmental and non-governmental collaborations such as partnering the Malaysian Nature Society to set up nature clubs in schools and sponsoring environmental workshops for school teachers who are advisors to their school’s Nature Clubs, equipping them with information on environmental issues and the tools to impart this information to their students. We’re also a contributor to the MYCAT project, a tiger conservation program established by an alliance between the Department of Wildlife and National Parks in Malaysia and NGOs such as the Malaysian Nature Society, Traffic Southeast Asia and Wildlife Conservation Society of Malaysia. Our contributions are employed to purchase equipment and supplies needed to monitor the tiger population, as well as conduct educational programs for villagers who reside near the National Parks. Working together with the Fisheries Departments and the Fishermen Economic Groups in Kelantan and Terengganu, ExxonMobil sponsored the construction of concrete artificial reefs at Pantai Kundor and Marang. This will help to expand the fishery resources in the coastal waters and thereby promising greater returns for these fishermen. In 2006, ExxonMobil funded an energy efficiency project managed by the Centre for Environment, Technology & Development, Malaysia (CETDEM). Called "Working with the Community on Energy Efficiency at the Household Level in Petaling Jaya" (WCPJ), the project will help to promote awareness on efficient energy usage in urban households and the potential benefits that can be achieved.
