Our healthcare contributions to government clinics, health centers and hospitals across Malaysia focus on capacity building, purchase of equipment and health programs. Over the last five years, ExxonMobil has contributed close to RM500,000 for healthcare programs and equipment for hospitals and clinics in Terengganu alone. We also sponsored a 'school-in-hospital' program for chronically ill children requiring long term hospitalisation and treatment. Such 'school-in-hospital' programs have been established at Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Cheras, Universiti Malaya Medical Center Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia Kubang Krian and at Hospital Kuala Terengganu. A playground outside Kemaman Hospital, donated by ExxonMobil, is a favorite with children visiting the hospital as well as those living nearby. We have also sponsored healthy lifestyle programs aimed at raising awareness among students on diseases caused by smoking such as cancer and heart problems. In addition, we have sponsored the reprinting of breast cancer educational materials to help educate breast cancer patients in Malaysia. The materials were adapted from several existing American Cancer Society (ACS) publications and translated into Bahasa Malaysia. The project was a collaboration between the Institute for Community & Peace Studies of Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Cornell University, United States.
